The Crossroads of Diabetes

24 Sep

By “Annie Rose”

Since the beginning of time, every man and woman has searched for their purpose in life.  Whether it be the raising of children, leading a large corporation or finding the cure for cancer, finding your calling is essential to leading a happy and product life.

For Annie Rose of Colorado, she has done just that and a whole lot more.  Annie led a privileged childhood in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and yet as life progressed, she experienced the curveballs life tends to throw at each of us.

Having experienced the loss of her father, her mother’s battle with breast cancer and a divorce of her own, Annie was left with three children and empty pockets.  This was the time in Annie’s life she decided to find her true calling.  Having lived with the illnesses brought upon her mother and father, Annie understood the suffering and hopelessness many families endure during illness and the trying times they cause.  With these powerful emotions in Annie’s quiver she decided it was her time to make a difference.

“To say I was at a crossroad would be an understatement”, this sentiment with a pinch of good fortune put her in front of Dr. W. Alan Tomlinson.  The lecture Annie attended featuring Dr. Tomlinson brought her and Diabetes prevention and reversal on an intersecting path that would launch her to the forefront of the disease.

The Blood Sugar Pack™ and all of the benefits associated with it would become Annie’s purpose and calling.  She set out on a mission to help the over 23 million children and adults living with Diabetes, that help is called the “1-2-3 Punch”.  Modification of Diet, Healthy Exercise and The Blood Sugar Pack™ make up this triple threat of healthy success.  As it relates to diet and exercise Annie suggests the following:

  • Do not eat “white” foods such as potatoes, white bread, pasta, white rice and sugar
  • Begin your day with protein and east lots of protein (lean beef, chicken, fish)
  • If you eat fruit have it before 2:00 pm
  • NO fruit juice
  • Eat limited amounts (1/2 cup or 2 slices bread) of WHOLE grain (complex carbohydrates)
  • Drink LOTS of water (it thins your blood)

If you don’t exercise right now, you DON’T have to run out and join a gym, which cannot only be expensive but intimidating.

  • Begin by leisure walking 10 minutes after your EVENING meal (either outside or if you are housebound then up and down your stairs or around your home)
  • ASAP increase to walking 10 minutes after all 3 meals
  • If you already exercise, add the walking as described above
  • For severely incapacitated folks, try getting a “rebounder” or mini-trampoline and gently “bounce” on it for 10 minutes or more after all 3 meals.

The third ingredient of the “1-2-3 Punch” is The Blood Sugar Pack™.  The Blood Sugar Pack™ was designed specifically for diabetics to provide your body with complete and balanced nutrition in a superior form. This comprehensive pack contains four separate and very important products, providing over 100 very specific nutrients, which contain over 1000 bio-available ingredients that diabetics are proven to be deficient in, as well as a complete balance of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The products that make up the Blood Sugar Pack™ are Carbotone™, Calcitone™, Ultragard Forte and Omega Tone.

Dr. Tomlinson has stated Carbotone™ “is the most advanced nutritional product that has been scientifically designed to intervene and assist with the support of healthy blood’.

Over the past 10 years, the success of the Blood Sugar Pack™ for Annie and her family has been life altering.  Her quest to help those with diabetes has led her to not only financial stability but an enriched sense of purpose.  Annie understands there are other products on the market that claim to offer those suffering with diabetes exceptional results yet offer limited success.  For this reason Annie openly states, “We invite skeptics, it is those who are skeptical and then see results that are the backbone of our success”.

This new project will add to her already immensely packed schedule which consists of her weekly radio show hosted each Friday at 6:00 pm EST which can be heard at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Bio-Med-Buyline.  In addition to her radio show Annie hosts a weekly call on Thursday’s at 8:30 pm EST.  Her weekly call allows those suffering with diabetes a forum to discuss their situation with others.

It’s well after midnight on a weekday, andwhile most people are asleep, Elizabeth Earhartis performing exercises with the latest fitnessinvention on a 24-hour shopping network. And still smiling. And that’s not even the half of it. Whether it’s doing 100-yard sprints at the local high school, kicking off a motivational seminar or instructing clients in her group fitness class, this mother of two teenage kids (15 and 17)always has her motor running. It’s all in a day’swork, according to her.“All things are possible,” Earhart explains during a rare moment of downtime in her midweek schedule. “Anything is possible. It just depends on how bad you want it.”Life wasn’t always this enthusiastic for theTampa native, a self-described “skinny kid”who was a bit of a bench warmer when it came to sports. Earhart says she felt more clumsy than athletic when she tried out for sports like swimming and field hockey, never quite finding her niche. It was when she least expected it, that her life took a major turn.“Once I had my children, something clicked inmy head,” Earhart said. “Deep down inside I knew I wanted to get myself in shape. Never though, in my wildest dreams, did I think I would get to this level.”It’s been a long road, almost 10 years of hardcore training, but this past July Earhart earned her Pro Card, winning the overall title in the Masters Figure Division in 2010 NPC Team Universe Competition in New York.

What that means is that she is now eligible to compete internationally at the pro level and continue on her quest to conquer the fitness world. And she definitely has a plan. It begins with juggling a busy schedule which includes daily group training sessions at her own personal training studio called CorEfit in North Tampa. The fitness guru says she prefers small group sessions of two to six people because it’s more economical for the clients and helps her reach more people at once.

Her core philosophy is based in “muscle confusion,” another term for tricking the muscle into action. “You never know what you’re going to get with me,” she says and that’s why she believes her clients stay dedicated and motivated. One of whom she claims recently lost 42 pounds in six weeks, while another managed to shed 36 total inches from her body.“I don’t want them to look at the scale,”Earhart said. “Body composition and how they look in the mirror are more important. And I try to teach them a lifestyle, giving them what I call a “life plan” rather than a diet.” Skipping, squatting, lunging; you name it and she has them doing it on the treadmill whichis part of the key to getting “killer legs.” The focus is always on variety and fun and that’s what keeps them coming back.

Next up on her ‘To-Do’ list is taking care of the kids, and she doesn’t mean just her own. Her passion for children has led her to open Camp Wirl, a program for girls, 6th through 8th grade, which teaches them the importance of loving themselves and urges them not to identify themselves with who they hang out with but rather who they are inside. It’s a lesson in self esteem mixed with a bit of etiquette, internet safety, self-defense, fitness and nutrition.

Sexy Water…

8 Aug

Why is the intake of water so important to my body?

I have been asked this question by my students and clients who come see me for massage and herbal remedies…

Here is a much needed explanation …

I see the signs of dehydration when they complain of cramping, muscle spasms, lack of energy, break outs/rashes.

Almost every time I ask, so ‘how much water did you drink today’ I get alot of the same response, not much, ‘does coffee count?’.. haha.. ‘does beer count?’ haha…   More than half of my clients are dehydrated.

Basic signs of dehydration are thirst, and a very yellow urine, but there are more signs that alot of people are not aware of.

Water is your body’s principal chemical component and makes up about 60 percent of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on water.

It flushes toxins out of vital organs, which helps support weight loss.

It provides nutrition to the cell by carrying vitamins and minerals,it keeps the tissues healthy and moist in the body, like the sinus, and all the body cavities such as the mouth, throat, vaginal and anal areas.

When people complain of lack of energy and an overall feeling of tiredness, this could be due to dehydration, without enough water in the body, the normal body functions are sluggish.

The beauty benefits are also many. The benefits of drinking water will show outwardly.

Skin will be plump in the face and it will have a younger appearance because skin cells are healthy and hydrated. Cellulite in areas of the stomach, thigh area may fade because the hydrated skin cells will naturally create a more tone and tighter complexion.

Water needs vary for each person, but here is a basic formula I advise my clients and students:

example of a 200lb man/woman… they would need to drink 1/2 their body weight in ounces to remain hydrated.

So 100oz for this person would be appropriate to replenish the body’s water loss.

If you are good at eating fruits and vegetables, you are able to get 20% of your water from food.

Also you can make your own sexy waters full of natural flavors .. with slices of lemon, oranges, or cucumbers… any fruit of vegetable that you love will do…

Herbal tea hot or iced ( decaffeinated -no green tea) with nothing added(sugar, honey, cream etc.) acts as water in the organs, so this is another way to add water into your daily routine.

Any coffee or alcohol negates any water you have taken in, because they are diuretic(take water out of the blood and bone cells).

For 1 cup of coffee, you need to take in 1 cup of water to get back to 0

also if you are on any medications, you should be adding a glass of water onto the basic formula.

It is tough to start drinking water, especially if you are not used to it, or if you are at a job that requires you to be at your desk for hours at a time.

I suggest you start this hydration process on the weekend. It takes a day or 2 for your body to get used to all this water, but believe it or not, you will get used to it.

Your bladder will be able to hold the water for longer periods and naturally your body will get rid of the extra water it has been holding on to because it has now been reconditioned to understand that you are no longer dehydrated, so there is no need for storage.

It is such a simple and blessed resource to stay healthy, it is a wonder to me how we all take this idea of drinking water for granted.

Here is a diagram from the Mayo Clinic on the importance of water:

Water loss happens for many reasons. Naturally through sweat, breathing, urine and bowel movements a person loses about 4 - 8oz cups per day.

So find healthy ways through out the day to stay hydrated, before and after any physical exercise and a 1/2 hour before and after meals, is the way to a healthy, sexy, more energetic body.

How Do You Define Beauty

6 Aug

By Michelle Phillips www.michellephillips.com  Celebrity Make up Artist~ Beauty and Life Coach~ Author ~Speaker I’m sure you’re thinking, “What the heck is defining my beauty?” and “How in the world do I do that?!”

It probably conjures up thoughts of creating your own personal style or fashion statement. Maybe you can start wearing a funky hat or rippy jeans. It must be your hair right? I want to start by defining your beauty from the inside and we’ll work out from there. So let’s get to the definition, are you ready? Webster’s dictionary, defines beauty as; the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Wow! We’ve been obsessed with physical beauty for thousands of years and there it was right there in the dictionary, ‘pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit!’ Okay, so that’s the dictionary talking but what are your words for what exalts you inside and out? And how do you get there? If you were to think of your life as a business you would want to come up with a catchy name, check! That’s your name. Then you would want to think about what you want the business to do and be and accomplish. Of course you would want to be well regarded and respected. Inside and out you would want to be nice to look at and be with and definitely something that plays an integral part of society right? Well let’s do the next step in you want to live your life.

Let’s take a very important bit of time here to carve out exactly how you want to be perceived from this day forward! It’s homework time. I want you to write your name, and a little dash next to it like you were writing a definition. Next I want you to define how you would like to be perceived. This is your vision for the ultimate you. If you already are many of the things you would like to be, outstanding! But be sure to jot those down to reinforce your who you would like to continue to be. Whether that is funny, outgoing, respected, well-read, generous, positive, influential, resourceful, pretty, hot, stunning, business-like, well-mannered, (fill in) whatever that is that would be the BEST YOU for you that is going to be the right answer. Now go ahead and jump on that, I’ll give you a minute. Right now I hope you are looking at the page and thinking that sure looks like someone you’d like to be best friends with, work with, be married to, etc. That’s exactly the point! The first part of living a dream life is dreaming what it should look like and we just did that.

Now the task becomes walking boldly into that visualization, keeping the words we wrote above displayed somewhere to remind us of who we are and who we are going to be. You will take those attributes and qualities that you aspire to and make a conscious effort to turn them into reality. This isn’t going to be easy and won’t happen overnight so give yourself a break as you work on them. The deal is though that by simply working on and believing them you will turn perception into reality.

I know it sounds simple, because it is! One of my favorite author/speakers, Wayne Dyer, has a book and a phrase that I love, “Change the way you look at things and the way you look at things will change.” You are going to start by finding your true beauty where it has been all the time, in your heart, your mind, and in your mirror! Quit asking the mirror on the wall who’s the fairest of them all, wake up and TELL the mirror!

Healing Laser Clinics, Inc. Making a difference

27 Jul

The founders of Healing Laser Clinics Mark, Ken and Melissa have a passion and a clear vision to help with the epidemic of smoking. They take smoking very seriously and will do everything in their power to help smokers break the habit.

Melissa Morgan lost mother to lung cancer and after 21 years of smoking finally decided to quit smoking.  She was unsuccessful in the past with patches, hypnotherapy, Welbutrin, Smoke-away and trying to quit “cold turkey”.  She heard laser treatments to quit smoking, and although very skeptical, went to the clinic with her boyfriend, Mark.

Mark, another smoker of 20 years was also extremely skeptical about the quit smoking treatment.  Melissa and Mark walked out of the clinic 45 minutes later and have never had a cigarette since.  Mark called his father; Ken, a smoker of 44 years about the treatment and Ken flew from PA later that month and stopped smoking immediately after treatment. They were all so impressed with their results that they spent all of their spare time studying laser therapy and nutrition.

Soon after, they opened a clinic in Lake Mary, Florida. On opening day, Melissa dedicated the clinic to the memory of her mother, Judy Morgan.  The clinic has been treating people for smoking cessation and weight loss ever since. Mark, Melissa and Ken love to help other smokers finally kick the habit and they have a sincere understanding of what the smokers are going through and how to help them with Low level laser Therapy.  Now they have locations nationwide and soon worldwide.

It has been over 4 years since Mark, Ken and Melissa quit smoking with cold laser therapy.  Since then, they have treated thousands of clients with the low level laser to quit smoking and dipping.

Healing Laser Clinics utilizes a safe and painless technology to help you to stop smoking or to quit dipping by utilizing our cutting edge stop smoking laser therapy. We have used it to help people quit smoking in Central Florida for 4 years. Stop smoking laser treatments have been used in Europe for 30 years and Canada for 16 years with an 87% success rate.  Our stop smoking laser therapy is recommended by local physicians because our therapy has no side effects and there is no need to use gums, patches, shots or pills.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is the application of a “cold” pure laser to treat certain conditions. It has been used to successfully treat many kinds of muscoskeletal injuries because it promotes healing and tissue repair. Laser therapy is quickly becoming the most popular therapy for quitting smoking because there are no side effects and the treatment is immediate, no need to wait for months like some patches and pills that are currently prescribed. When you smoke a cigarette, natural chemicals in your body, called endorphins, immediately signal your brain to make you think you feel better. Nicotine addiction alters the normal endorphin cycle in your body so you have a hard time feeling good without the use of nicotine, whether it is from cigarettes, dip, chew, cigars or pipes.

As you know, the effects of nicotine wear off quickly (usually 1 to 2 hours). As time goes by, endorphin levels in your body drop far below normal, and you begin to feel extremely irritable, upset, stressed, fatigued, and anxious for another cigarette. After you inhale again, endorphin levels are raised back up to a point where you feel better. This continues on and on and on in a never ending cycle.  This is your nicotine addiction and this is why it is difficult to quit smoking or dipping.

Just as cigarettes raise endorphin levels in your body to make you feel relaxed, so does Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). By naturally elevating levels of endorphins, laser therapy allows you to eliminate nicotine from your body while avoiding the cravings, stress, and irritability most commonly associated with withdrawal. The difference between cigarettes and laser treatment is the laser naturally stimulates your cells to release endorphins over a much longer period of time – 3 to 5 days versus 1 to 2 HOURS for a cigarette.

Pertinent Tobacco Statistics

There are 1.1 billion smokers in the world today, and if things continue as they have, that number is expected to increase to 1.6 billion by the year 2025.

Worldwide, tobacco use will kill more than 175 million people between now and the year 2030.

Current tobacco-related health care costs in the United States total US $81 billion annually. Germany spends an average of US $7 billion, and Australia, US $1 billion each year on health care directly related to tobacco use.

Health care costs associated with secondhand smoke total US $5 billion a year in the U.S.

Healing Laser Clinics is committed to educate, share and change lives on person at a time.

It is estimated that as many as 500 million people alive today will be killed by tobacco use unless significant anti-smoking measures are adopted on a global level.

Healing Laser Clinics  has already made a difference and will continue to do so.

HLC was awarded the Cross of Lorraine by the American Lung Association.  This is the highest honor given by the American Lung Association and was provided to HLC for our commitment to assisting other companies in providing smoke free environments for their employees.

Healing Laser Clinics President, Mark Marino was just awarded as Volunteer of The Month for February by the American Lung Association.  Healing Laser Clinics proudly donates part of their proceeds to the American Lung Association to help with lung research and to educate children on the dangers of smoking.

Woman honored by the White House earns Guinness Record as longest living quadriplegic

21 Jul

More than 50 years after a neck-breaking diving accident,
Lani Deauville shares her story of how she continues to beat the odds.

When 17-year-old Lani Deauville dove from a seawall on a Jacksonville, Florida beach in 1958, it didn’t seem particularly risky. The athletic champion diver was used to diving from bridges, racing cars at high speeds and generally, as Deauville remembers, “performing any scary activity I can think of.”  With this particular dive into shallow water, however, she slammed hard into the ocean floor, breaking the fourth, fifth and sixth cervical vertebrae in her neck. She was paralyzed from the neck down.

Now more than 50 years later, she continues to inspire others with her story of survival and joy of life. Along with other achievements, she was recently awarded the Guinness World Record for being the longest-living quadriplegic. She credits her longevity in part to exercise and to supplementing her diet with the whole-food supplement developed by her brother-in-law which is now called Greens+.

“If you broke your neck in the 1950s,” explains Deauville, “you died. If you survived the initial injury, the life expectancy of a quadriplegic back then was five years.” Quadriplegics typically battle a variety of health complications, including urinary tract infections, pneumonia, central nervous-system infections, gastrointestinal ulcerations, osteoporosis and bowel blockages.

Deauville refused to accept her fate. She changed from a neurosurgeon to an orthopedic surgeon when the neurosurgeon wouldn’t recommend surgery to stabilize her neck because he considered her case to be hopeless. After getting neck-stabilization surgery and spending a year and a half in the hospital fighting skin ulcers, spasms and infections, Deauville became the first quadriplegic patient of the State of Florida’s Vocational Rehabilitation Agency.

Over the next few years, Deauville pursued an education with the same level of drive that used to propel her adrenaline-soaked youth. She obtained her GED and earned her undergraduate degree – all at a time when quadriplegics usually stayed home and out of sight. Lack of disability-friendly ramps and facilities sometimes meant that Deauville had to hire strong assistants to carry her up and down stairs. After graduating with honors, she was accepted to the University of Alabama to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology.

During her eight years as a student, Deauville continued to battle critical illnesses that kept her hospitalized at least once a year. A dangerous infection ultimately led her to leave school and focus on regaining her health and earning income.

Following stints as a rehabilitation psychologist and then as a coordinator in the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitation Services, Deauville helped write universal-access legislation for disabled people that became law in 1974 in Florida and was adopted in part by the federal government.

“Now that the United States is more accessible to persons in wheelchairs, a physically disabled person can go nearly anywhere.” In 1976, Deauville and her husband Jude were invited to the White House by President Ford, who honored her as “Disabled Employee of the Year.”

In 1980, Deauville became the first female and disabled person to direct the Florida State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency – the very agency that was responsible for her own rehabilitation years before.

But the recurring illnesses that tend to plague quadriplegics were attacking with increasing frequency, exacerbated by the fact that a very busy Deauville wasn’t eating healthy food or getting enough exercise. In 1987, after retirement, she broke a hip and suffered from several infections. “Each hospitalization saw me ending up worse off than before,” she remembers.

Everything changed in the late 80s. Her brother-in-law – Sam Graci, a Canadian biochemist – had been developing a highly nutritious “green drink” made up of super foods that he thought might help improve Deauville’s health. “Sam used me as his favorite guinea pig,” says Deauville.

He continued to refine the powder into a supplement – mixable with juice or water – that became known as Greens+ (www.greensplus.com). “I’ve been supplementing my food intake with this formula for 20 years,” says Deauville, “and it has totally transformed my life and health. After suffering numerous hospitalizations for more than 30 years, I can say that I’ve not had a major illness since, and I am healthier today than I’ve ever been.”

Greens+ is a whole food supplement consisting of 29 enzymatically alive foods. Each serving of Greens+ is equal to five servings of fresh fruits and vegetables. It helps to support the immune system, provide increased natural energy, enhances mental acuity, and cleanses and detoxifies the body.

In 1991, Deauville and her husband began distributing Greens+ to their family and friends, and – eventually – to health-food and healthcare professionals in 19 countries worldwide. Today, a variety of other supplemental products based on Greens+ are available, including the omega 3 chia seed that can be added to your favorite recipe for cooking.

Given up for dead more than 50 years ago, Deauville has managed to beat the odds. In the process, she’s lived a fulfilling life that has included improving opportunities for other disabled. At 70, she credits her longevity to healthy eating, Greens+ supplements and exercise (she lifts weights twice a week and swims regularly).

“In retrospect, I wouldn’t exchange five minutes of my life with anyone. I am living a wonderfully blessed life.”
